ASKING FOR SUGGESTION, GIVING SUGGESTION, AND
OFFERING TO DO SOMETHING

Asking for Suggestion
Asking for suggestion is the act of someone asking another person an idea or plan to put forward for consideration when they have problem(s).
There are several expression that can be used to ask for suggestion. One of them which is to use the word "shall"  (shall I / We + Verb1)
Examples:
  • Shall I make you a coffee?
  • Shall I get another job?
  • Shall We open the store?
  • What shall I say to them?
in addition to the example above, here are some other example of how to ask for suggestion:
  • Should I go to the hospital?
  • What should we do?
  • Do You have any suggestion?
  • What do You recommend?
  • Do You have any Idea?
Giving Suggestion
Giving Suggestion(s) is the act of someone giving Ideas or Plans to put forward for consideration.
One way to give suggestion which is these following Expressions:
(We/You Should + verb1)
Examples:
  • You should finish your assignment right now
  • You should go talk to her
  • We should be quiet
Responses
Accepting suggestion(s)
  • Sounds good.
  • Good Idea
  • Lets do that
  • sounds great
  • I agree
Refusing suggestion(s)
  • Maybe some other time
  • I don't think that's a good idea
  • I'm not sure about that
Offering to do something
Few examples of expression of giving offer(s) which we can use:
(Would you like + Noun / To infinitive)
Examples:
  • Would You like a glass of coffe?
  • Would You like to watch the movie with me?
Other Examples of Giving offer(s)
  • Can/May I help You?
  • What can I do for you?
  • May I give you a ride?
  • Would You like me to turn on the Air Conditioner?
Accepting an offer
  • Yes, I'd love to.
  • Sure, Thank you
  • Yes please, Thank you
  • That's very kind of you
  • That would be very nice
Declining an offer
  • I'm sorry I can't
  • Thank you, but I'm busy at the moment
  • I'd love to, but . . . . .
  • No, Thank you
A: Hey, you look not well. Are you okay? 

B: My stomach hurts. 

A: Do you need anything, like a medicine maybe?

B: Yes, please. I need a medicine for a stomachache.

A: I will get that for you. 

B: Thank you.

5 minutes later… 

A: There is no medicine for upset stomach in our medicine storage box, but I bring this eucalyptus oil for you. Just rub it on your belly. It can ease the pain. 

B: Thanks.

A: If the pain persists, you should see a doctor.  

B: Okay.
